Valentine’s Day Words
Happy Valentine’s Day!!! Today is a happy day for some, and sad for others. I’ve personally never been a big fan of the holiday, but now that I’m single for the first time in forever I’ve found some real meaning in it. Throughout the first two weeks of February, we see funny memes and make jokes about being single during Valentine’s Day and even though I have a huge sense of humor, I’m not sure if I find these jokes very funny for the reasons below:
1) Why is it a negative thing to be single on Valentine’s Day?
2) Who decided that Valentine’s Day was to express love for a significant other – can’t you express love for your best friend, mom, pet, brother, or yourself?
3) Why do I have to stay in on Valentine’s Day and watch movies, eat ice cream, and cry to myself?
Being single on this holiday has made me find a whole new meaning in love – love for myself. An appreciation for my good qualities and gratitude that I am very blessed to have people in my life that I love and that love me back.
