Office Chic: How to Stay Fashion-Forward at Work

Being fashionable at the office is always a struggle…we don’t want to seem like we’re trying too hard, but we also don’t want to look frumpy. It’s a proven fact: looking our best means that we feel our best, and when we feel our best we perform at our best. And guess what performing at our best means?! Ding, ding ding! Promotion! So  go ahead and take a risk with your work clothes if that means that you’ll hold your head a little higher around the office. Just follow my simple recipe for dressing for work:1 trendy piece (the top is always the safest bet)
2 very classic pieces (a simple pump, a pencil skirt, a structured blazer, etc.)
1 statement piece (best to keep it a small item like your jewelry, shoes, etc.)
1 fun color (hint: if it’s not on your clothes, put it on your lips!)
all nice fabrics (we want people to take us seriously, don’t we?)

*note: you can also incorporate your trendy and your color into your classic pieces, like I did with this outfit. My pants are half trendy/half classic, and my top is a classic pinstripe but a not-so-classic silhouette. Wear your pop of color on a classic trouser pant, or a fun trendy print on a structured button-up.
