How I Changed My Blow-Dry Routine from almost 30 Minutes + Frizzy Hair, to 8 Minutes + Silky Hair
I posted my Revlon Blow Dryer on my Instagram story a few weeks ago and people went nuts asking me about it and my blow dry routine! Seriously…look at these comments LOL.
I found this blow dryer on recommendation from my favorite bloggers @somewherelately, and some of their followers said they also got the $400 Dyson and this one is better!
Honestly, I’ve always been so bad at blow drying my hair. It’s hot, uncomfortable, and I end up spending 30 frustrated minutes of my life just to get a huge lion’s mane that looks worse than if I had just air dried it. My hair has NEVER been that hair to blow dry perfectly unless a pro does it.
Until I found this life saver blow dryer! The Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Voluminizer has a round brush attached to it (um, genius – why didn’t we think of this sooner!) so you’re not stretching your arms in directions you didn’t even know they could go while hot and sticky from your shower.
Now I feel like I just left the salon after a blowout and I have never been able to do this to my own hair before! (is this me growing up?!)
I’ve also been trying a few different products with my blow dry routine to keep it healthy and un-heat damaged. I’ve tried products from Chi to Moroccan Oil for heat protectant and shine, but nothing works better than this simple duo of products that I found!
Also another amazing thing I’ve been using to dry my hair are these hair clips! I’ve been using them for everyday too…
The Blow Dry Technique
A few things I make sure to do first:
- Towel dry a bit before starting so it’s not sopping wet
- Thoroughly brush through
- Separate hair into two layers
- Take a 2-3″ wide piece of hair and start at the root. I pull it down extremely slowly to make sure that I leave the previous part completely dry (takes about 8 seconds per piece). If I didn’t dry it all the way through, I run through the same piece one more time.
Must-have Product #1: Kristen Ess Style Assist Blow Dry Mist
I use a few sprays of this on each of the two layers I blow dry. It smells like salon which I love (maybe cause it reminds me of getting pampered, idk?)
Must-have Product #2: Living Proof Instant De-Frizzer
This is for immediately post-blow dry and I love love LOVE it because it is SO light and not oily, so it doesn’t make your hair greasy weigh it down which is especially great for curls.
