Alllll the Wine Club Reviews + My Favorite Wine Accessories
There are SO many wine clubs going around nowadays, and I swear I’ve tried them all. We’re also members of a few wineries including Turley in Paso Robles, CA and Page Springs Cellars near Sedona, AZ. A lot of people ask me about the wine clubs because they know Danny and I are such wine-o’s, so here is a breakdown of the wine clubs we’ve tried!
They’re all great for different types of wine-o’s, wether you’re a beginner, adventurous, a value-buyer, or experienced.
FirstLeaf: for the beginner
FirstLeaf is GREAT if you’re a wine beginner or don’t know exactly what you love…and is also pretty price-conscious – around $15/bottle. You take a super short quiz for them to determine your palette type, and will recommend three wines for you. Then you rate them based on how much you like them and they update your profile to your taste. It’s a really good program to discover the types of wines you like – wether you’re a cab or a pinot, a sauv blanc or a chardonnay! They also carry mostly small vineyard wine which to me is cool because they aren’t carried in grocery stores and I wouldn’t have known about them otherwise! If this sounds like you, you can get 3 wines for only $5 each from FirstLeaf if you click here!
Bright Cellars: for the adventurous
Bright Cellars is good for the “trendy” wines – if you’re not too picky about the types of wines you get and are pretty adventurous. They also do a palette test so you’ll never worry about getting something that you absolutely don’t like. Most of them are international wines which is cool because there are a lot of wines from overseas that are not even available in the states (i.e. Ports are all from Porto, Portugal), and some types of grapes are just tastier in certain countries (I think whites from Australia are the best personally). Bright Cellars is a mid-price point at $20/bottle – you get 4 per month for $80. However with this link you can get $50 off your first box!
Winc – for the one who knows what they like + my personal fave!
Winc is my personal favorite because I already know the types of wines I like and I’m willing to pay a little extra to explore a few new wines every month. I have literally never gotten a wine I dislike from them…wait, let me rephrase that: I seriously L O V E every single bottle that they send every month. Maybe it’s because I rate every bottle and they refine my settings, or just that they know me so well…I don’t know what it is! You can also change your shipments to go every 60 or 90 days, too. Also, their marketing materials and branding are on-point, so you know I have to love them for that 😉 If you know what you like and you don’t want to stray, Winc is for you! These are great for value if you want to buy in bulk and if you’re also pretty laxadazical on the types of wine you drink or just want to discover more. You still get to choose between red, white, or a mixed assortment, but the assortment comes pre-assorted and there is no personalized quiz. With Gold Medal and California, you can also choose your “regions” if you know that you like Spanish, PNW, Australian, etc.
You will get a few of the same wines, so it’s good if you like to have people over for dinner that are also adventurous in their wine drinking so you can try them together…or, just have them all to yourself too. It’s pretty much if you want to expand your collection or are just really interested in trying new wines from all over the world. I discovered and grew an appreciation for Tempranillo from these clubs!
I know there are three in this group, but they are really all the same to me except that Martha Stewart doesn’t let you select regional.

Vinebox: for the people who just.want.wine and are too busy to grocery shop
I call this one “the college wine club” because it’s when you’re too busy to grocery shop and too poor to afford good wine (am I wrong though?!). It’s basically just a wine delivery. 9 bottles get delivered quarterly for $72 (umm so cheap!!). I like the quarterly delivery actually because it’s exciting (see reasons below). And to be fair they are new wines to discover, which is fun! They also do the “twelve nights of wine” every year, and they give you a golden bottle in one of their shipments – super fun! But honestly, I subscribe for good wine…so it’s just not for me. However if you’re the budget wine drinker, Vinebox is for you! Click here to get the Vinebox “Golden Bottle”.
Wine of The Month Club: for the SE.RI.OUS wine-o
Wine of the Month Club is aweeeesome. It’s really about discovering new vineyards and appreciating the different craftsmanship. I think of the person who would love this club as the person who loves researching vineyards and wine tasting – even has memberships to a few vineyards – yet doesn’t have the time to try them all. This one is more of a novelty and an “experience”. It super fun! However for me personally, I wasn’t a fan of a few of the bottles we got and they don’t offer the personalized palette experience – it’s purely for discovery. They also have a Game of Thrones series! I will sign up for it again, I’m just too tired right now, ugh. Maybe tomorrow.

Private Wine Clubs/Vineyards
Then, of course you can always join private wine clubs from your favorite wineries! We are members at Page Springs Cellars in Page Springs, AZ (just outside Sedona) and Turley in Paso Robles, CA. Private wine clubs are definitely going to be more expensive (for instance, Page Springs are about $30-45 per bottle, and Turley is about $50-75 per bottle) BUT you know that you will always enjoy that wine, and we them quarterly (Page Springs) and semi-annually (Turley), so it’s really something to look forward to! I always get excited when we get those boxes, rather than my monthly Winc which is more of a regular thing.
