AOL Fall Beauty Awards: Best Nail Products of 2015!
I was a judge for this year’s AOL Fall Beauty Awards, and I had the privilege of reviewing the nail products! I got to review nail treatments, different colors and formulas, and even a gel kit! There were tons that I loved, and some that unfortunately just did not hit the mark. Here are my reviews of this year’s best nail products (scoring from 1-5):
THE NUDES:
Mischo The Tents: 4
Super cute pink nude! Because of the nature of light pink, I needed three coats for safe measure.
tenoverten Fulton: 3
Ugh, I love this formula so much, but the color was a little too yellow and made me look dead :/
Ginger + Liz Colour Collection- First Defense Natural Coat: 2
Too yellow!
MY WINNER! China Glaze What’s She Dune: 5
ALWAYS love the China glaze formula! Super thick and long lasting, and I feel like they nailed this nude!
THE REDS:
100 Percent Pure in ‘Pie’: 4
Burgundy is a staple for me! The color was spot on, but I needed three coats to get it opaque enough.
Ginger + Liz Colour Collection Boss Lady: 3
This really is a boss lady color! It kinda reminds me of the evil lady in the movie “Beethoven” (is that weird?). It was super bright and good coverage, but gave kind of an orangey tone…not the Fall red that I’m looking for.
Revlon Color Stay Gel Envy: 4
Once again, didn’t hit the nail on the head with a FALL red. I wish it were deeper to match the season.
TIE! tenoverten Orchard: 5
The formula is spot on! It’s a great transition in between burgundy and ‘red red’.
TIE! China Glaze Salsa: 5
A good bright Fall red! I always love the China Glaze formula…thick enough, and long lasting.
Red Carpet Manicure Red Carpet Ready Kit: 5
Whoever invented this is genius! Such a cheap way to do gel and save $. I love the color in this one, too.
Nail Treatments: Base coats, top coats, and oils
ncLA 15 SO RICH: 2
A little thin and watery :/ didn’t get my cuticles prepped enough for treating.
CND Air Dry Top Coat: 2
This one was kinda thin, but dried super quick! It didn’t seem to prevent chips much.
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat: 4
It really feels like gel! I would give it a 5 if it weren’t a bit sticky and goopy, but it dried pretty quickly, and really prolonged my polish!
Red Carpet Manicure Cuticle Elixir: 4
Not too thin, not too oily. I only worry about the bottle size…I feel like it will only last a few uses!
Seche vite: 4
Well, the name says it all…it does ‘seche vite’!! I wish it were a little thicker, though.
tenoverten The Foundation: 4
This didn’t seep into my nails like most base coats do. I feel like it really helped in making my mani last. The formula did feel a tiny bit watery to me, though.
MY TOP COAT WINNER! Essie Gel Setter Top Coat: 5
AWESOME! Super thick and dries quickly!
MY TREATMENT WINNER! CND Daily Keratin Treatment: 5
I love the fact that I can carry this around in my purse all day and slap some of it on when I’m bored….it makes me feel productive for when I don’t have time to pamper myself.
Formula X The System: 5
Um, so cool! I love that it is in steps – it’s kinda like a dummy’s guide to painting your nails.
