DIY Industrial Shelves for under $30
We finally got around to our master bathroom renovation after almost two years of me living at Danny’s LOL! And now that we’re buying a house and going to rent the condo out we can only enjoy it for another month or so…but whatevs. We did the stenciled DIY floors a few months ago, you can see that tutorial here. Since there is only a little medicine cabinet and a cabinet under the sink for storage, I wanted some shelves for over the toilet for some more storage. Everything online that I found was around $40-$60 per shelf, so DIY it was! I made these for under $30 per shelf.
This was the EASIEST and CHEAPEST DIY I’ve ever done…seriously. My plan was to get the industrial pipes from Home Depot and spray paint them matte black, like I did with our coffee table in Pinetop. The industrial pipes are expensive – I built our coffee table in Pinetop out of a spool top and industrial pipes and ended up spending a little over $90 on the pipes (and only $10 on the spool…ha!). I actually found this on Amazon for only $26 and it came with the hardware!
For the planks, I just found a good piece of wood from Home Depot and had the guy cut two 16″ planks. I used Minwax Walnut stain and didn’t even sand it – I wanted it to be a rougher, unfinished feel to contrast against the pretty floors and modern vanity.
See below for all the pics! And I’ve linked the items I used from Amazon in the little images below.
Have fun!
