My Experience with CandidCo Aligners (with before and afters!)
My mom told me to continue wearing my retainer…and she was right. My teeth moved. And what’s weird is that my jaw shifted with it too and started creating some bite problems. So crazy how crooked teeth can throw so many things off.
I put it off for a couple years, but I really wanted to straighten my teeth back for my wedding last year and when I saw that CandidCo opened a studio in Scottsdale, it was a sign that I just had to pull the trigger.
The studio experience was super cool! I think definitely took more time than the online trays would have taken, but the machine was really cool and the studio was really nice.
Once you get your scan done, they send it off to an orthodontist to make your plan. This is to make sure you’re moving the right teeth first to make room to straighten others and doing it slowly enough so that it’s safe and stays in place when you’re done. Some people’s teeth may take 4 months, some may take 14! It depends on which teeth need to be moved and how much.
Then they send you the plan for approval. It’s soooo cool…take a look:
Then once you approve they make your aligners custom for you. This is a two week waiting period. When I got my box in the mail I was soooo excited.
The cutest box! I didn’t need all these weeks 0 I only had 14 steps (about 6.5 months)
The first day of every pair of aligners makes your teeth a little sore…some weeks more than others. To me, it was oddly satisfying because it was just physical proof that it was working.
They also give you a cool foam that you can wear in your aligners that cleans and whitens them. So cool.
Some people have asked if it was an adjustment to get used to it and the short answer is…yes, a little. I had to take them out before every meal, and teeth brushing time took longer because I brushed my aligners every time I brushed my teeth. I also stopped chewing gum! Also, the first few months I actually snacked less because I was too lazy to take out my aligners LOL.
They tell you not to drink hot liquids but I had two mugs of coffee every day and had no problem. They also tell you not to eat or drink things that may stain them but if you know me I love my wine. I had no problems because I brushed them really well. I actually kind of appreciated how the aligners were a barrier between my teeth and harmful red wine and coffee so my teeth were protected!
