Our Next House Project…The Front Door!
It’s been a minute!
We’ve had so much LIFE happening over here that my brain has been pre-occupied with, so I just haven’t had the creative juices to do any home projects (I know, who am I?!). Needless to say, I am SO HAPPY to finally be onto the next project – y’all know I’m a busybody.
This project I’ve thought about for the last couple years. I’ve always thought that our entryway has had so much potential but couldn’t figure out how to change it. Right now, we have a very large and tall entryway but it kind of feels all over the place…you can see below how there’s no one focal area:
I also want to do something with our concrete – initially I wanted brick, but I think that will be too much of a project. So we decided to do a concrete paint that will clean it up. Apparently it’s a one-day project, so if it’s anything like our garage floor then it shouldn’t be bad!

I definitely want black and lots of window lites. We have an amazing view out our front door that we are currently not taking advantage of.
I initially had a concern about privacy with the glass door because we do have a park in front of our house, but our entryway is very tucked back, so one would really have to be peeling their eyes to see what’s going on inside our home.
I am looking forward to more natural light with a glass door, and the ability to see the mountains from our door now!
For design, I want to take up as much real estate as possible without going overboard. But I also want to be able to put a planter on each side of the door, so I don’t think a double door would work. Our entry is tall, so given our budget I want to stretch it up high. I like the idea of sidelites, so we will have to see what budget allows.
And here are some good ones from First Impression Ironworks that I love and want to model ours after. I will be working with them to pull all my favorites together from their portfolio and I will have my own collection on their website along with a promotion just for you guys! I will announce it when it’s ready 🙂

The Project
I first found First Impression IronWorks from Instagram and Pinterest when searching for inspiration for this project. Their designs looked clean, elegant, and high quality.
After going to their showroom and speaking to the designers, seeing their process, and looking at their examples…I was sold! First Impression is also an Arizona business which I love, and has that small business “family” feel…like you’re not just a number to them.
The process takes a few months from design to install, so we are looking at a September installation!
