Phoenix Fashion Week Gets ‘Fashionably Pink’ For Breast Cancer
I had the great pleasure of attending the annual ‘Fashionably Pink’ celebrity fashion show to kick off Phoenix Fashion Week. The show was to raise money for “Don’t be a chump! Check for a lump!“, which is a non-profit organization that allows women who were diagnosed with breast cancer to purchase a wig up to $250.
The event started off with some amazingly inspirational stories and a chance for the attendees to show their generosity by giving to the cause. The story given by the founder of the organization was so touching and inspirational, and really made me understand that buying a wig when you are diagnosed with breast cancer is for much more than vanity. The survivors that have all benefited from this cause shared that their wigs helped them keep their identity as well as a sense of normalcy in their lives while fighting cancer.
The show came in three parts: 1) fabulous dresses by a few of the Phoenix Fashion Week designers, 2) local celebrities showing their support on the runway in some amazing pink gowns, and 3) breast cancer survivors strutting the runway in-you guessed it, pink!
What a fun way to raise money and awareness for a great cause! I expect to see all of you there next year!
